The app was originally launched in January 2021 and is accessible on both mobile and desktop devices.^[2] Arattai provide End-to-End Encryption in direct chats and group chats, It handles text and voice messages,^[3]  audio and video calls, group chats, file sharing, stories, and channels.^{[4] [5]}  This platform is designed to be lightweight, with a primary focus on privacy and accessibility.^[6]  This service is completely free and ad-free. In September 2025, Arattai saw a notable surge in popularity in India, becoming a domestic contender for messaging services, attracting interest as a viable alternative to international platforms.^[7]
